The Oswego Players have found great success with their murder mysteries in the past and “Deathtrap” is no exception.  The Players fourth production of their 86th season, “Deathtrap” is being given six awards by TANYS.

Ira Levin’s classic comedic thriller, “Deathtrap” holds the record for the longest-running comedy-thriller on Broadway, and was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Play. “Deathtrap” was well received by many and has been frequently revived.

The production received a numerous accolades from adjudicators of the Theater Association of NYS (TANYS).

  • Excellence Award in Ensemble Acting to the Cast
  • Excellence Award in Acting to Karla Chandler-McCord for the portrayal of Myra Bruhl
  • Excellence Award in Direction to Inez Manor Parker
  • Excellence Award in Technical Direction to William Edward White
  • Excellence Award in Properties to Adele Cronk
  • Excellence Award in Scenic Design to Kenneth Snow, Sonia-Lough Berlin and Bill Cowham

Paul Nelson, vice president of Adjudication Services for TANYS announced that the awards will be presented at the Annual TANYS Festival in November.

Formed in 1987, when the New York State Theatre Festival Association (NYSTFA) merged with the New York State Community Theatre Association (NYSCTA), the mission of TANYS is to foster the contribution of theatre to the lives of the citizens of New York State, promote high standards of theatre practice through education and example, and encourage exchanges of information and knowledge through people-to-people and theatre-to-theatre interactions.

“We thrilled that our May production was honored with these prestigious awards from TANYS,” said Oswego Players President Norman Berlin. “It is extremely rewarding to know that the passion and dedication that goes into our productions is appreciated.”
