She cloisters herself in a space no larger than 6’ x 6’. She is surrounded by costumes, fabric, buttons, bows, and sparkly things. The machine in front of her hums for hours and hours guided by her watchful eye, and skillful hands. She is a creative magician who often takes shapeless pieces of cloth and makes hats and masks and skirts and lots of pretty things. She’s our very own Marie Sterphone, Costume Lady Extraordinaire.

Marie has become a loving fixture around the Oswego Players. And we often exclaim, “What would a show be without Marie’s Magic?  And this time around, Marie had a real challenge with the upcoming comedy, “The Savannah Sipping Society. It’s a real costume show as the four actresses are required to change costumes multiple times throughout the play.  Ever up to the challenge, Marie has put in many hours planning, measuring, cutting, and sewing together what promises to be a spectacular array of outfits tailored for each scene and the actresses involved.

Whether working with the Theater Arts Youth Academy students, or the adults in a play, Marie always delivers. And we salute her for all she does for the Oswego Players.

When the curtain opens on April 1, 2, 8, 9 at 7:30 pm and again on April 3 & 10 at 2:00 PM, audiences will be treated to everything from yoga outfits to Salsa gowns. And it will be our Marie who can take a bow.

Tickets are available by calling the Oswego Players box office at 343-5138 or by logging on to the OP website: oswegoplayers.org. Tickets are $15 Adults and $10 Seniors & Students.
