Auditions for Noel Coward’s classic, oft-revived “Blithe Spirit” will be held at the Frances Marion Brown Theatre on Wednesday, June 25th and Thursday, June 26th, each night from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Director Troy Pepper will conduct cold readings for two male and four female actors, as well as one female teenager. While British accents are encouraged, they are not mandatory.

This is not the first time that Oswego Players has produced “Blithe Spirit” and it also not the first time Troy Pepper has directed this classic play. In 2005, “Blithe Spirit” was Troy Pepper’s directional debut. Now twenty years later, he is reviving this classic comic play.

“Blithe Spirit” follows meticulous, cantankerous novelist Charles Condomine who, while interviewing eccentric and flighty medium Madame Arcati for his new novel, finds himself literally haunted by his deceased first wife, Elvira, whom no one else can see. Comedy and chaos abound as Charles, his second wife, Ruth, their guests, and Elvira’s personalities clash, and more supernatural hijinks occur.

Performances will run Fridays through Sundays, September 5th -7th and 12th -14th. Friday and Saturday shows will start at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday matinees will begin at 2:00 p.m.

“Blithe Spirit” is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection (www.dramatists.com).

This project is made possible through the CNY Arts Grants for Regional Arts and Cultural Engagement regrant program thanks to a New York State Senate Initiative supported by the NYS Legislature, the Office of the Governor and administered by the New York State Council on the Arts.
